The Book of Revelation
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST
The Revelation of Jesus Christ is the last book of the Bible. It is written around the year 90 A. D. It is by far the most important book in the bible which tells us how things end. The Revelation of Jesus Christ is not so much a revealing of Jesus Christ. It is the revelation that Jesus Christ gives to John.
JOHN IN THE SPIRIT ON THE LORD'S DAY
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet. Rev 1:10
Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; Rev 1:19
John is on the isle of Patmos when John receives the Revelation of Jesus Christ. John is then said to be in the Spirit on the Lord’s day. John is placed forward in time and is looking at things with the eye of a prophet on the day of the Lord. The sections seem to be things past Rev 1-3 -- things present Rev 4-19 -- and things yet to come Rev 20-22. Rev 4:1 has a door open in heaven where the Saints go up. Rev 19:11 has heaven opened where the Lord comes down with his saints. This gives us the Premillennial view point. The Church is raptured out in Rev 4:1. The Tribulation follows through Rev 19 which ends with Armageddon and the Lord Jesus Christ returning to set up his kingdom. After the 1000 year reign on earth comes the white throne judgment followed by eternity where death and hell are forever conquered.
ALPHA AND OMEGA
The Lord Jesus Christ declares he is the Alpha and Omega. He then says he is the first and the last. In verse 18 He says ‘I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.’ -- The Lord Jesus Christ is declaring his deity and his power over death.
The Seven stars are defined in Rev 1:20 as the angels to the seven churches.
The Seven candlesticks are defined in Rev 1:20 as the seven churches. They are Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Spiritually each church is a different period of time in the church age from the start of the church till it is raptured out in Rev 4:1,2
